No secret how this little girl got her name! I know everyone has bought one of those Jiffy Popcorn packages that you put over a flame. You sure don’t dare turn your head when trying to make one of those.. it's done before you know it! Well, you don’t turn your head on Starr when she starts to have her foal...It, too, is done before you know it. We had just driven off to go feed some neighbors critters and said to everyone, “We’ll be back in a Jiffy”….!”Little did we know just how quickly we would be returning. No sooner did Starr hear the truck drive off ...that she got down to business! Guess she wanted us to know she could handle having her baby without us. Our phone was ringing so much I could not answer all the calls. Proof to us that the Mare Stare program WORKS!!!! We turned that truck around and before we could get home, Starr had pushed out the cutest dark brown jennet. When we walked in the stall she looked at us as if to say, “Where have you been, why do you look so frazzled?” We took a deep breath and a sigh of relief when we saw everything was okay. That precious bundle of love just gave a new meaning to Jiffy Pop. I know everyone saw Bill do his “happy jennet” dance. He was so excited and so was I. Thanks to everyone who called and watched the birth of Jiffy Pop. She has such a winning personality and the cutest head and face. Right on the top of her muzzle is a little smudge…..we call it her scorch mark (Jiffy Pop) from being born and we had “turned our heads”. For anyone that hasn't heard the story of this little girls birth, visit our MareStare message board to learn all about it and to see a video: http://latigo.marestare.com/forum/index.php?topic=8490.75Thank you to my sister, "Bo" (in Florida) and ALL the MareStare "crew" that got us to the stall after this precious jennet was born. And thank you to Sandy at Wits End Farm for naming this little one! |

Never underestimate the power of the full moon. We had been anxiously awaiting the arrival of this little foal. At 1:14 a.m. under the prettiest full moon our little guy was born. It did not take this him long to learn what life was all about. He was up and about within 10 minutes making us laugh with excitement. It was if he wanted to put on a show for us to let us know just how special he was going to be. His independence from his mother was amazing yet she was more than willing to share him with us. We continue to enjoy his antics as he frolics around his paddock. Knight sounds like a little wound up toy as he runs, bucks, squeaks, and groans running around playing with all the other donkeys. We love to watch him hold that head up high as if to be saying, “look at me, come play with me. I’ll take you places you will love.” You know what, they all follow him around and play just like they know what he is saying. There is never a dull moment on our farm since Knight arrived. We love to watch him dart in and out of the herd enticing all the others to explore and play with him in his large playground. All the donkeys love being with him as he puts a SMILE on all faces including ours. AnnouncementKnights Sire, Wee Ones Tyger, wins 2008 ACOSA National Grand Champion !!
