Light Sorrel w/small star
|
The story behind this little mans name..... .... Earlier this year, we aquired several jennets and a weanling named Daniel from a farm that was having a tough time. Sadly, little Daniel, died a few days after arriving at PPH. We were so heartbroken that we were unable to save this little guy........Fast-forward 6 months and on this past Friday afternoon, Loretta gave birth to Daniel's full brother..... and he is the spittin' image of him. The first thing Bill said to me, " We have to name him in memory of Daniel, we just have to." After a couple of days of trying to come up with something catchy to call him, we made the decision to keep it simple. Little Remi is the last of our foals for 2009 and we are going out with a bang! His light sorrel color is stunning with the extensive light points that he has. This little guy is so fun to watch out in the pasture, having already made friends with all the other foals. He is so beautiful and his conformation is perfect, not sure at this point if he will show up on our for sale page. |

Though we thought about changing Mia's name to "Drama Queen" (she fooled everyone for 2 days about being in labor !) there was no doubt what her precious daughter should be named. This "take-charge" girl had to have a name that fit her perfect! I have to give my sister, Melissa, credit for this one! She is always looking for good names and she emailed me this one just a few days ago.... its sure didn't get stale on our list! This stocky compact little jennet comes zipping out of the stall the first time I opened the door (at 8 hours old) like she was saying, "Step as(s)ide girls, I'm coming through!" and that is exactly what she did! Her barn name is in honor of Betty Boops 75th Anniversary. To make this birth even more special, our granddaughter was visiting from out of state and she got to see her first live birth of any animal....... and it was Diana's birthday! Just a great day all around! Boop is maturing so beautifly that we have taken her off the for-sale page for now. We want to spend some more time with her.... watch for her on the show circuit in 2010. Click here to see the recording of her birth: www.youtube.com/watch?v=69_2-n9rrxw (The end is very cute... our granddaughter did the "happy dance"!)

Gray & White tyger-spotted Gelding prospect

It happened again! These July babies practically sneak out of the womb! We have been watching Shea (aka Burgerdoodle) very closely as she is a maiden jennet. On 7/30, we noticed her milk was a little different, so we were keeping a close watch. A day goes by and no change what-so-ever but, on Friday, it changed a little bit. There was no waiting around for this little man to make his entrance to the world! And we were SO surprised that it was a spotted bay! Not just spotted - but the unusual tyger-spotting pattern!

Red w/Star Gelding Prospect

You know, I’ve always heard “big things come in small packages” and this is no exception. What a beautiful, teeny tiny, vibrant red, jack Katie presented to us July 20th. That date seems to be a good one for us at PPHFarm. Last year on the same date we had Jify Pop, who delivered so fast we missed the entire event. This little guy came very quickly when he and Katie decided it was time for all of to see what’s been cooking for 12 months. It was a textbook delivery (very quick) from start to finish. We saw Katie in labor and quickly headed to the barn where everything was already in progress. Only a few pushes later and there he was….Scotty! We had picked out the name, Assip of Scotch, and just waiting for the right donkey to be born to carry that name. This little boy was certainly the right one for this special name. Everything about him is smo....ooth as a sip of scotch. His little heart is a big as can be and so full of love and personality. With Windcrest Firefly and Turnpike Creek Katie, there was no doubt this foal would be one to boast about if it was a jack or a jennet. He certainly wears his “genes” well!!!!! We are so fortunate to have such an outstanding little fellow with a perfect bite, straight legs, stocky build, and so small in statue. He keeps us so entertained as he frolics around his paddock letting all the other donkeys know he is finally here and ready to join the rest of the herd. Katie is being a fantastic mom and loves him so much. Seeing is believing, so call today and make an appointment to come see Scotty. He is guaranteed to warm your heart, and crawl right up in your lap for some special people hugs and kisses. . SOLD |

Red/Gray-Dun and Garters

To own a donkey with the pedigree that includes the progeny of Little Red Man (he is now retired!) is a rare pleasure. We feel so lucky to own one of his off-spring, Windcrest Linzi, as one of our brood jennets. "Hugs" color is stunning and is quickly becoming one of the most sought after colors. We were so surprised to see her sporting such a cute set of garters. "Hugs" sire, PMF King Coal has the genetic trait somewhere back in his pedigree. Guess he’s been hiding them back in his “underwear drawer” just waiting for the right little girl to wear those striking garters. Thanks, King! Call today to set up an appointment to get your hugs from “It’s All About Me”…we guarantee you will get the best hugs ever as she puts a great big smile on your face. Bet you will want more than one hug!!!! When was the last time you were hugged by a donkey? We will be offering “HUGS” to someone special.
Click here to see her birth video! Thank you Kathy on MareStare for recording! SOLD |

Dark Reddish Brown Gelding Prospect

Ever heard of “Murphy’s Law? No doubt you have (and thinking back we probably could have considered that as a great name for this little fellow.) One of our newly acquired jennets, Precious, was pregnant when we got her. All we knew was the sire’s name, that she was bred sometime during the Spring season, and she was a maiden. With no definite dates for her breeding, we put our watchful eyes on her the minute she began showing her bag. Maidens don’t often follow the “rule of thumb” book on their first foals. As it turned out we had to watch for several weeks and I was beginning feel like the little boy who “Cried Wolf”. That’s okay as we felt better to be safe than sorry. On April 2, in the early afternoon, NO FALSE ALARM, it was evident that Precious was gearing up to have this long awaited baby. She was not the only one gearing up….the weather channels were filled with tornado watches, which quickly turned to tornado warnings. Weather alarms and foaling alarms were going off everywhere at the same time. We kept hoping she would foal before all of this nasty weather came down upon PPH. However, MURPHY decided that it would just move on in with the storms, winds, hail, and rain. The wrath of the storm hit just as Precious went in to full blown labor. She could have cared less about the harsh elements of the storms keeping all of us trapped endlessly in her stall. We were so proud of the great job Precious did delivering her very first baby with very little help from us. The skies above were offering all the proper sound affects and within a few minutes we had the cutest, tiny, full of life, little boy popping in to his new world. The loudest clap of thunder sounded as he took his first breath. I wondered what he thought about such a loud noise. I said to him, “Don’t be afraid, that is only your cousin MURPHY showing up at a bad time.” He didn't seem to think long about anything as he was up and twisting around like, “here I am, and I’m loving my new big fluffy room. Got Milk????? After all the drama we decided to name this little guy Tennessee Tornado and call him Twist. It was sure the right name for him as he has not stopped since he was born. He is small, compact, good bite, straight legs, and just loves his momma. We love his (most unusual) color in that it has shades of brown, gray and hints of red.
